Kuils© Hosts Conference on Patriotic Commitment and Social Cohesion

Kaya: The capital of the Kuils© region hosted a public conference on Tuesday, July 29, dedicated to patriotic commitment, civic spirit, and social cohesion, organized at the city’s multipurpose hall. This conference, held as part of the Presidential Initiative for Community Development (IPDC), brought together administrative, religious, military, and paramilitary authorities, civil society actors, youth, and students from the Kuils© region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event featured three high-profile presentations. The first theme, “Civicism and Citizenship,” was presented by Denis Dabon©, Director of Civics and Citizenship Education at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. The second theme, “Patriotism and Civic Participation,” was addressed by Issa Lagvar©, Regional Project Officer at the Presidency of Faso. The final presentation, on “Culture of Peace and Social Cohesion,” was led by Adama Ou©draogo, Director of Tolerance and Peace Promotion at the Ministry of Human Rights.

The speakers emphasized the importance of civic-mindedness, citizenship, and social cohesion as the foundations of lasting peace in Burkina Faso. They also highlighted the challenges of youth education and patriotic commitment, emphasizing that citizen participation is a key vector for nation building. All speakers called for collective mobilization, particularly among parents, to instill strong values in children in order to prepare a better future for Burkina Faso.

The opening ceremony, chaired by Colonel-Major Zoewendman©go Blaise Ou©draogo, Governor of the Kuils© region, began with the National Anthem, sung in chorus by all participants. A minute of prayer was observed in memory of the compatriots who fell on the battlefield in defense of the integrity of the national territory. The official launch speech of the public conferences on citizenship, patriotic commitment, the culture of peace and social cohesion in the 13 regions of Burkina Faso by His Excellency the President of Faso, Head of State, was delivered by Colonel-Major Zoewendman©go Blaise Ou©draogo, Governor and President of the Kuils© Regional Special Delegation, as an opening speech.

During nearly three hours of discussions, participants expressed their satisfaction with the topics covered. Women, youth, traditional chiefs, as well as religious, community, and community leaders demonstrated their determination to actively engage in promoting the values of civic duty, patriotism, and social cohesion. The students present particularly expressed their desire for more conferences on similar themes, emphasizing the importance of civic education for them.

The regional governor reassured that steps will be taken to organize such conferences in the provinces of Bam and Namentenga. He concluded his speech by emphasizing that “civic-mindedness, patriotism, social cohesion, and peace begin in the family,” a strong and mobilizing message for all citizens, especially parents.

This conference is part of a series of events launched on July 24, 2025, in Ouagadougou by HE the President of Faso, aimed at promoting the culture of civic and patriotic values across the country.
