Al-auja: Illegal Israeli settlers on Saturday forced Palestinian families to vacate their homes in the village of al-Auja, north of Jericho in the eastern occupied West Bank. This incident follows a week after these families, along with others, were displaced from the Bedouin Shalal al-Auja community. According to TRTworld.com, Iyad Kaabneh, one of the displaced individuals from the Shalal al-Auja community, reported that Israeli settlers threatened him and his family, compelling them to leave their residence in the Wadi Abu al-Hayyat area of al-Auja village. He mentioned that they were forced to relocate to an unspecified new area. Kaabneh further explained that a week earlier, he was forced to leave the Shalal al-Auja community due to threats, harassment, and repeated attacks by settlers. This pattern of intimidation has led to the complete evacuation of the Shalal al-Auja community, as detailed by Hassan Malihat, the general supervisor of the rights group Al-Baidar. Malihat stated that 121 families, appr oximately 1,000 people, have been displaced over the past week. Malihat highlighted the severe harassment and pressure faced by these families, including assaults, the theft of livestock, burning of tents, confiscation of agricultural tractors, restrictions on grazing, and the cutting off of water supplies. The displaced families are now enduring difficult conditions, having relocated to areas south of al-Auja, with some moving to the al-Jiftlik and Fasayil areas north of Jericho. Al-Auja Spring, a significant and well-known water spring in the Jordan Valley, is also a popular tourist site for Palestinians during the summer due to its abundant water resources. The ongoing tensions have severely impacted the local population. According to Palestinian figures, since October 2023, Israeli forces and illegal settlers have killed at least 1,110 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, and injured nearly 11,000 others. In a significant development, the International Court of Ju stice declared Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory illegal in July 2024, calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the occupied West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem.
