Bibiani Gold Stars extended their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League standings after beating Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra. Samuel Atta Kumi's second-half strike secured all three points for Gold Stars as they ended the Phobian's five-match unbeaten streak after Hamza Isaah missed a glorious opportunity from the spot to restore parity for Hearts of Oak. Bibiani Gold Stars have now accumulated 18 points and are three points clear of second-placed Asante Kotoko, who still have one outstanding match. Premier League debutants Basake Holy Stars engaged Asante Kotoko for the first time in their club's history at CAM Park in Aiyinase. Albert Amoah's first-half strike for Asante Kotoko was cancelled out by Prince Tweeboah's superb strike in the 82nd minute. Dreams FC continued their dreadful start to this season's league campaign after succumbing to a 1-0 loss against Young Apostles. Daniel Lomotey's second-half strike was enough to give Young Apostles thei r second win of the season and move further away from the relegation zone, while Dreams are second from bottom with four points. Legon Cities, who are also yet to get a win this season, couldn't capitalise on home advantage as they were held to a goalless game by regional counterparts, Accra Lions. Nations FC were the big winners of week eight as they thumped Vision FC 3-0 at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. Faisal Chawetey scored a brace while Richard Danso added a goal in the late stages of the game to secure an emphatic win for Nations FC, who stay fifth on the table with 13 points.
