Exeter Triumphs with Stunning Late Comeback Against Saracens

Exeter: Exeter secured a dramatic victory over Saracens at StoneX Stadium, propelling them to the top of the Premiership table. The thrilling encounter saw Exeter claw back from an 11-point deficit with three late tries, culminating in a decisive final play that sealed their win.

According to BBC, the match began with Saracens making a strong start as Noah Caluori and Max Malins both crossed the line, giving the hosts an early lead. Despite being reduced to 14 men following Tom Hooper’s sin-binning, Exeter managed to respond with a try from Stephen Varney. The teams entered halftime with Exeter trailing by just one point.

In the second half, Caluori secured his second try, and Saracens were awarded a penalty try, putting them in a favorable position for their fourth season win. However, Exeter’s Greg Fisilau emerged as the game-changer, scoring twice in quick succession to shift momentum.

A missed penalty by Owen Farrell left Saracens vulnerable, and with the final play, Henry Slade intercepted and sprinted to score, ensuring Exeter’s victory. Slade’s 15-point contribution was pivotal in Exeter’s comeback, as they celebrated their fifth win in seven matches.

Saracens had to make a late change to their lineup with Olly Hartley replacing Lucio Cinti. Despite early dominance, Saracens could not withstand Exeter’s relentless pressure in the closing stages.

The match was marked by critical moments, including a contentious TMO review and a sin-binning for Campbell Ridl, who made his Premiership debut. The game concluded with Exeter’s defense holding firm against Saracens’ final push, ultimately securing their spot at the top of the standings ahead of Bath’s upcoming match against Newcastle.
