Djebok: The FAMa provide food and medicine to the population.

The population of Djebok, a locality located about fifty km from Gao, came out en masse on February 9, 2023 to welcome the mission led by the Chief of Staff of the PCIAT-Est representing the com-theater, Colonel Youssouf TRAORÉ. The CEM was accompanied by the director of the 8th region of the Gendarmerie, Colonel Bassékou BERTHÉ, the representative of co-sector 1, Commander Hamza Ag Sidi MOHAMED and the head of the civil-military action office, Captain Sillas DAKOUO.

The PCIAT-East Command came to translate the Army’s commitment to the population through a day of food distribution and free consultations with patients of all kinds and ages. The event brought together local authorities, notables and a large population at the djebok school. Nearly 400 families received food consisting of semolina, spaghetti, sugar and oil. A total of 6 tons of semolina, 200 boxes of oil, 200 boxes of spaghetti and 200 pallets of sugar were distributed to the population. The handover ceremony was made by the CEM with the representative of the mayor Mr. Mohamed Ag Mohamed AHMAD. Hundreds of patients received treatment. These consultations were carried out by officers from the garrison infirmary.

According to the CEM of PCIAT-Est, Colonel Youssouf TRAORÉ, it is within the framework of Operation Maliko to assist vulnerable populations, the displaced. This is why the command of the PCIAT-Est came to meet the people of Djebok, bring them food and care and listen to their concerns and respond to their expectations. This social action will be extended to all sectors of the East theatre, reassured the Colonel who thanked the people and his local authorities for the warm welcome. The problems of insecurity, lack of drinking water, education and health were raised by the representative of the mayor, Mr. Mohamed Ag Mohamed AHMAD. He did not fail to greet the FAMa for their donations and reassure them of the commitment of the 45 fractions of Djebok. Now they are behind the Army.

Salma Walett ALHOUSSEYNI, one of the beneficiaries, greeted the FAMa and especially the delegation for this action which comes at the right time because for her, the population lacks everything. This population strongly demands, it must be pointed out, security and peace in Djebok.
