Brigadier General Sambou Minkoro DIAKITE officially passed the torch of the General Directorate of the National Gendarmerie to Brigadier General Moussa Toumani KONE. The change of command ceremony took place on Monday, February 20, 2023, in the compound of the Squadron Leader Barracks Balla KONE in Faladiè. It took place in the presence of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General of Division Oumar DIARRA, directors of services as well as several other military, civilian and foreign personalities.

The outgoing director of the National Gendarmerie, Brigadier General Sambou Minkoro DIAKITE, at the start of his remarks thanked the Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers for the gigantic efforts made across cities and countryside. Appointed head of the National Gendarmerie on September 10, 2020, Brigadier General Sambou Minkoro DIAKITE said he was delighted to have benefited from the trust, support and constant support of the highest authorities.

Addressing the gendarmes in general, he urged them to remain united, united and mobilized for the success of their missions under the leadership of their new leader, Brigadier General Moussa Toumani KONE. Finally, the outgoing Director General expressed his sincere thanks and deep gratitude to all his colleagues Chiefs of Staff and Directors of Service for the collaboration in a fraternal and friendly setting.

Appointed during the Council of Ministers of February 08, 2023, the brand new Director of the National Gendarmerie, Brigadier General Moussa Toumani KONE, first of all thanked the highest authorities for the trust placed in him. He also praised the outgoing Director for the results obtained during his stay at the head of the National Gendarmerie. The new boss of the National Gendarmerie intends to strengthen the network with more staff, the reinforcement of the capacities of the staff before adding that the challenges to be met and the expectations are numerous. He invites the elements to more collaboration with the population, especially in terms of intelligence. General KONE insisted above all on cohesion in order to achieve the missions assigned to them.
