The Ségou military region brilliantly celebrated, on Friday January 20, 2023, the 62nd anniversary of the creation of our valiant Army. To this end, a parade of arms was organized at the Cheick Amadou TALL camp in order to mark this commemorative date with pomp. The event was placed under the chairmanship of the Chief of Staff of the Governor of the Region, Mr. Affel Boubacar YATTARA. He had at his side the commander of defense zone n°2, Colonel Youssouf Oumar CISSÉ as well as several other military and civilian authorities.

After the troop review followed by the laying of wreaths at the stele dedicated to the dead by the Chief of Staff of the Governor of the Military Region of Ségou, Mr. Affel Boubacar YATTARA, the Commander of Defense Zone No. 2, Colonel Youssouf Oumar CISSÉ in his speech, recalled the importance of the commemoration of January 20 by the Malian Armed Forces. According to him, this anniversary date is the place to express our gratitude to all our alumni whose unparalleled sense of patriotism continues to inspire us.

The history of our army is inseparable from that of the great empires and kingdoms which have always shone in the world by their rich warrior tradition. Colonel CISSÉ also warns that the Malian Army nowadays displays and without complex a new state of mind, the fruit of an irreversible dynamic of reconstruction initiated by the authorities of the transition. This reconstruction project is moving at high speed with the corollary of an increasingly reassuring security solution for our fellow citizens who are happily returning to their daily activities.

This undeniable increase in power, supported by credible international partners, is reflected in a remarkable strengthening of our capacities, both in terms of human resources and in terms of the acquisition of equipment. However, the Commander of Defense Zone No. 2 believes that we must all and always remain vigilant and above all be aware that we will have no respite until the terrorist Hydra is completely eradicated from our territory.

For his part, the Director of Cabinet of the Governor of the Region of Ségou, Affel Boubacar YATTARA confided that the Malian Armed Forces play a major role in the security of the country. This is why he saluted them for their commitment, their determination and above all their constant sacrifice for peace to return to this country. Mr. YATTARA stressed that with the acquisition of new combat equipment, we can undoubtedly reassure ourselves that this will further boost the morale of the troops already at the top, while specifying that the defense of the integrity of the territory is a duty for everyone.

The delivery of letters of congratulations to certain elements who have distinguished themselves and a military parade were other highlights of this day of commemoration.
