The 2024 National Farmers’ Day celebration is set for November 8 in the Greater Accra Region.
Marking its 40th edition, this year’s event will focus on Ghana’s dedication to dedication to agricultural practices that combat climate change,
A statement issued by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture said the event will be held on the theme: ‘Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security.’
It said the celebrations would culminate with a National Awards Night Ceremony on November 8.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is billed to recognize outstanding farmers in 16 categories.
These include Overall National Best Farmer, National Best Livestock Farmer, National Best Female Farmer, and National Best Physically Challenged Farmer.
Leading up to the event, Ghana will also host Agrifest Ghana 2024, a five-day National Agricultural Fair, from November 4 to 8.
Agrifest Ghana 2024 will highlight the country’s rich agricultural heritage and provide a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing a
nd innovation, uniting farmers, and stakeholders from across Ghana.
The statement said the celebration will emphasise building climate-resilient agriculture to ensure food security and sustainability.
It would promote dialogue and encourage farmers and stakeholders to adapt to environmental changes while adopting best agricultural practices.
‘As we approach this significant event, we invite all Ghanaians to join in celebrating our farmers, whose resilience and dedication are essential to the nation’s food security and economic growth,’ the Statement said.?
